PRIMA fellowships

In the context of the Belgian “Excellence of Science initiative, the program

            PRIMA — Partners in Research on Integrable models and Applications

started on January 1, 2018. It is a joint consortium of several mathematics and mathematical physics groups at the Universiteit Gent, the KU Leuven and the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL). The research activities of PRIMA are at the intersection of random matrix theory, integrable models and representation theory. The members of the PRIMA program at UCL are Tom Claeys, Christian Hagendorf and Philippe Ruelle. Their research focuses on random matrix theory and exactly solvable models in statistical mechanics.

PRIMA offers postdoctoral fellowships at the Institut de Recherche en Mathématique et Physique of the Université catholique de Louvain  (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium).

The duration of the fellowships is at most 2 years. The net monthly salary will be between 2200 and 2500 euros, depending on the experience of the successful candidate. Furthermore, travel funds will be made available to the successful candidate.

The research area of the candidate is preferably related to one or several of the following topics : random matrix theory, (quantum) integrable systems, exactly solvable models in statistical mechanics, integrable probability, conformal field theory.

The candidate is expected to :

      • have a Ph.D. in mathematics or theoretical physics by the time of (and obtained at most 6 years before) the appointment;
      • not having lived, studied or worked in Belgium for more than 24 month during the 36 months preceding the start of the fellowship.

Applications should be sent in the form of a single pdf-file to eos-prima@uclouvain.be, and contain :

      • a cover letter indicating the preferred starting date;
      • a detailed curriculum vitae including a full list of publications of the candidate;
      • a research statement including previous accomplishments and future projects;
      • the names and e-mail adresses of at least three referees.

The review of the applications will begin on March 1, 2018. Applications sent later than this date will be considered until the positions are filled.
