Election of the future Dean Per Joakim Agrell

Professor Per Joakim AGRELL was elected Dean of the Louvain School of Management at the Faculty Council of June 6, succeeding Professor Michel DE WOLF for a mandate of two years from September 1, 2018.

« I feel proud and humble to take the lead of the faculty », says Professor Per AGRELL, « The clear strategy to leverage upon the strong links to our research institutes, our exclusive international networks, and the complementarity of our two sites will be continued. Naturally, the teaching quality is a priority for the faculty and this will guide us in the finetuning of the reform and the Master’s thesis processes. Finally, my mandate will also focus at recognition and transparency. Each member of our staff needs to receive recognition, support and guidelines for their personal professional development. The commitment of all staff members towards the collective goals requires trust and confidence in the processes, which my team and myself will achieve by transparency and openness. »

Within LSM, Per has had different roles, in particular the doctoral commission (since 2003), Research Director at LSM in Academia Louvain, President of ILSM (later LOURIM), Academic Director for the IEMBA, Co-director of CORE, Domain coordinator OIS, and program responsable Master 60. Within the University, he was member and later chairman for the promotion committee for the faculties LSM-ESPO-PSP.

The future Dean is professor of operations management at Louvain School of Management and permanent member of CORE (IMMAQ), his background is a Master of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from University of Massachusetts, a Master in Industrial Engineering and Management, a Ph D in production economics from Linköping University, Sweden. After postdoctorates at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Vienna, Austria and at the University of Georgia, USA, he started his career at Copenhagen University before joining LSM in 2001. His research area is in supply chain coordination and he is also an international expert in efficiency analysis for regulated utilities, leading to participation in many European projects and application of the methods developed.
