The conference will be held at the Ibis Styles Meeting Center Louvain-la-Neuve.

     

 

Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian town situated 30 kilometers South-East of Brussels in the French-speaking part of Belgium. NB Do not confuse Louvain-la-Neuve with Louvain / Leuven, situated in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium.

 

The conference venue can be easily reached by foot, car, train, or plane.

 

If you are staying in the centre of Louvain-la-Neuve, you can simply walk to the conference venue (15-minute walk).
If you are coming by car, take exit number 8A on the E411 motorway (Brussels-Luxembourg). To reach the Ibis Styles Meeting Center, turn right at the roundabout and follow the indications Ibis Hôtel (see map here). The venue has a large free car park.

If you take the train, be careful when you buy your ticket: you want to get to Louvain-la-Neuve, not Louvain (French spelling) or Leuven (Dutch spelling). Louvain and Louvain-la-Neuve are two different cities.

NB Your train ticket can be purchased online at the Belgian Railways (SNCB) website or through the SNCB app.

If you are staying in Brussels, you can take an S8 train directly to Louvain-la-Neuve from Bruxelles-Midi, Bruxelles-Central, Bruxelles-Nord, Bruxelles-Schuman, and Bruxelles-Luxembourg train stations. The S8 train runs every 30 minutes, and the journey takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Louvain-la-Neuve, you will then need to walk from the train station to the conference venue, as Louvain-la-Neuve is a largely pedestrian town, and there are no permanent taxicab stands. If you are staying in Brussels, you can also take an IC train (Directions: Luxembourg or Namur / Liège-Palais) to Louvain-la-Neuve, but you will need to get off the train in Ottignies (25-minute journey, with trains running every 30 minutes). From Ottignies, you can either take a taxi directly to the conference venue or take an S8 train to Louvain-la-Neuve. Here you will find a list of taxi companies operating in Ottignies.

If you are staying in any other city in Belgium, you will need to make a connection in Ottignies.

If you are coming to Belgium by plane, you might land in Brussels Airport. From there, you can:

  • Drive to the conference venue (20-minute drive). Click here to see the car rental companies available at the airport;
  • Take a taxi to the conference venue. The journey will cost you about 70€;
  • Take a train to Louvain-la-Neuve. There is a railway connecting Brussels Airport to Bruxelles-Nord train station, so you can take an S8 or IC train from there.

If you land in Brussels South Charleroi Airport, you can also:

  • Take a taxi directly to the conference venue (click here to check the taxi companies available at the airport). The journey will similarly cost you about 70€;
  • Take a bus shuttle (bus A) to Charleroi-Sud train station. From there, you will need to take an L train to Ottignies. L trains run every hour, and the journey to Ottignies takes about an hour as well. From Ottignies, you may take either a taxi or a train to Louvain-la-Neuve.
