We have just found out that due to recent road works in the area, the path from LLN station to the Mercure Hotel is extremely muddy in several places. If you come by train, we strongly advise you to get off at Ottignies station and take a taxi to the hotel.
Louvain-la-Neuve is a pedestrian town situated 30 kilometers South-East of Brussels in the French-speaking part of Belgium. The town is easily reached by car, train or plane.
Do not confuse Louvain-la-Neuve with Louvain / Leuven (situated in the Flemish-speaking part of Belgium)!
By car | If you come by car, take the exit number 8A on the E411 motorway (Brussels-Luxembourg. Turn right at the roundabout and follow the indications "Mercure Hotel". |
By train |
If you come by train, be careful when you buy your ticket: you want to get to "Louvain-la-Neuve université", not to "Louvain" or "Leuven". Louvain and Louvain-la-Neuve are two different cities.

By plane |
If you come by plane, the closest airport is Brussels Airport. It is a 20 minute drive from Louvain-la-Neuve. From there, you can take a taxi directly to the Mercure Hotel (Louvain-la-Neuve). It will cost you about 60€. Please have a look at our taxi pool system. The airport is also connected by train to the train station 'Bruxelles Nord' in Brussels. From 'Bruxelles Nord', you can take a direct train to Louvain-la-Neuve. The train journey from Brussels Airport to Louvain-la-Neuve lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Some flights also land in Brussels South Charleroi Airport. From there, you can take a taxi directly to the Mercure Hotel (Louvain-la-Neuve). It will cost you about 70€. Please have a look at our taxi pool system. The airport is also connected by bus shuttle (bus A) to Charleroi train station. From Charleroi station, you can take a train to Ottignies. You need to change in Ottignies and take a train to Louvain-la-Neuve. Trains schedules from Charleroi to Louvain-la-Neuve and back . |
