See and Show, Part 2

Abstract:

This second talk could also be called 'Discovering the World with Statistical Graphics'. I would like it to become a late Friday afternoon
talk: lean back, enjoy, and leave for the weekend with new and inspiring thoughts. Let's see how far I get in this first edition. I'll select a series of graphical representations of things happening in the world.
I'll show how to use them to explore and how to initiate others to do the same. We'll look at health, wealth, and human development. We discover, we explore, we discuss, we try to apply principles of the first talk to understand why some parts of the displays work well, why others don't. Among others, we will visit the gapminder, the displays of global burden of disease, imports and exports of Belgium and other countries, and a few interesting political time charts.
