Post-doc position available at the laboratory of Hepato-Gastroenterology, Institut de Recherche Expérimentale et Clinique, Université catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium

Project: Roles and mechanisms of regulation of liver progenitor cell compartment in the diseased liver

The laboratory of Hepato-Gastroenterology is offering a 2 years post-doc position in the field of liver biology and pathophysiology.

The broad objective of the project is to better understand the physiological and pathophysiological role of liver progenitor cells, a compartment of immature liver cells, during liver injury in order to identify targets amenable for therapeutic manipulation to alleviate liver insufficiency in chronic liver diseases. The project implies the manipulation of tools for cell tracking and cell lineage analysis in vivo, 2D and 3D tissue imaging, Cell isolation, bulk and single cell RNAseq and downstream analyses using bio-informatic tools.

The research group (laboratory of hepato-gastroenterology) belongs to the Institut de Recherche Expérimentale et Clinique (IREC) of the University of Louvain Medical School (UCL, Belgium) located on the Brussels Campus of the Université catholique de Louvain.

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in biological, pharmaceutical or medical sciences or a related discipline. Previous experience of 2D and 3D tissue imaging and of bio-informatic tools is desirable. The applicant will be asked to contribute to grant applications.

Application should be sent by e-mail to: Isabelle.leclercq@uclouvain.be and should include curriculum vitae, publication list, and a cover letter detailing research motivation.
