Msgr. Jadot Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Faculty of Theology and the Institute for Religion, Spirituality, Culture, Society (RSCS) of the Université catholique de Louvain, with the support of the Sedes Sapientiae Foundation, offers a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Theology: The Msgr. Jadot Postdoctoral Fellowship.
The Sedes Sapientiae Foundation offers the possibility of pursuing a further research in the area of excellence of the Faculty of Theology and research groups of the Institute RSCS on the question which concerns, at least partly, Christianity. The Faculty and the Institute give a young researcher the opportunity to work, within an international network, with an extensive range of seminars, symposia and scientific activities.
Objectives of the Postdoctoral Fellowship
During the two years of the post-doctorate, the researcher, accompanied by a Faculty professor, will participate in the activities of the research centre or the research group of the Institute to which he/she will be affiliated. His/her research project shall result in one or more publications in the form of monographs or articles, according to a decision taken with the host professor and the head of the Doctoral Committee for Theology. He/she is expected to participate in preparations and organisation of a conference of his/her speciality as well as to present a paper during the said conference.
Stipend and Benefits:
The monthly stipend (depending on the family situation of the candidate) is around € 2,300 (net) per month. The Postdoctoral Fellowship is exempt from tax, but is subject to social security for employees. The researcher will of course have an access to libraries of the UCL, the
Eligibility:
The candidate must have obtained, since less than 6 years ago and outside the UCL, a doctorate in theology or in another discipline provided that the issue of his research articulates with Christianity. He/she must equally be capable of expressing himself/herself (at least orally) in French. He/she must not have resided or worked in Belgium for more than 12 months during the last three years preceding the start of the fellowship.
Application:
Candidate’s application shall include a Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter, a copy of his/her PhD thesis (electronic version), a list of publications and scientific collaborations, email address and contact details of four professors or researchers who may be requested to testify on the candidate's qualities, a 12-page presentation of the research project with a timeline, and with the explanation of its suitability for research projects of the Institute RSCS.
The application must be submitted before September 1st, 2017
The answer will be announced to the candidates by September 30, 2017
