At UCL, discovering other academic environments is an essential component of a university education. Such experiences give students the opportunity to:
- specialise in any of a great number of subjects and pursue coursework or mentoring programmes offered by widely recognised researcher networks;
- learn another language while living an intercultural experience;
- cultivate critical thinking and autonomy;
- achieve socioprofessional integration.
What does UCL offer?
UCL has agreements with more than 400 university institutions in Flanders, Europe and all over the world via:
- European (Erasmus) and international (Erasmus Mundus, CLUSTER, TIME, CEMS, etc.) networks;
- UCL’s Mercator programme, which, since 2001, has complemented the Erasmus programme by allowing students to study in American or Asian universities;
- participation in institutional networks (CDD, Coimbra, AUF, CINDA, FUCE, FIUC, etc.);
- taking coursework—with no additional charge—at another Belgian university in either the French or Flemish Communities, while maintaining UCL enrolment.
What kind of programmes?
- Non-joint degree mobility programme (Erasmus, Mercator).
- Interuniversity joint degree programme, which leads to a single degree awarded by two or more Belgian and/or non-Belgian universities, one of which is UCL.
