Green buildings

Ensuring a high quality of life and energy efficiency requires UCL to continually improve its property assets.

At its seven locations, the university meets distinct challenges according to the size, age, environment and layout of its facilities. This multi-site management is driven by a common desire to construct green buildings and make existing ones green, thereby making university property more sustainable and environment-friendly. Thus the university targets passive standards and experiments with forms of energy autonomy, among other actions.

Each building is considered in its entirety and designed as a pleasant space where biodiversity and living together in cultural diversity are priorities. One plan, to be carried out by 2050, envisions progressive renovation of major university infrastructure more than 50 years old.
