UCL contributes to the open education movement by making educational resources available to the public:
Massive open online courses (MOOCs)
UCL pioneered MOOCs in Belgium. Since February 2014, it has offered MOOCs through the edX international consortium framework.
MOOCs are freely accessible courses taught entirely online. Participation is free, with only certification requiring a fee. Thus anyone can acquire skills and knowledge from renowned university professors. Consider UCL’s course offerings.
Several MOOCs are part of edX online MicroMasters Programmes, such as the MicroMasters in Management and the International Law MicroMasters. Getting an education doesn’t get any easier!
Open educational resources
Several professors develop syllabi, websites and videos for their students and then share them in the spirit of open education. Use them to update your knowledge: search the fields that interest you at UCL’s Open Educational Resources site: OER UCLouvain http://oer.uclouvain.be/.
Open access research publications
More and more researchers are making their research publications freely available. The UCL institutional repository is available to anyone who wants to keep up to date on the latest research.
Open source software
UCL supports the development and use of open source software for teaching, research and administration. Learn about the open source software developed by UCL, as well as other software recommended for its staff.
