Tom Kundig : houses / Ngo, Dung - Holl, Steven, - Joy, Rick - Tsien, Billie

Tom Kundig : houses

Ngo, Dung - Holl, Steven, - Joy, Rick - Tsien, Billie

Editeur: Princeton architectural press, 2021
Cote de rangement: 72.031.1 NGO K

Résumé:
"Architect Tom Kundig is known worldwide for the originality of his work. This paperback edition of Tom Kundig: Houses, first published in 2006, collects five of his most prominent early residential projects, which remain touchstones for him today. In a new preface written for this edition, Kundig reflects on the influence that these designs continue to have on his current thinking. Each house, presented from conceptual sketches through meticulously realized details, is the product of a sustained and active collaborative process among designer, builder, and client. The work of the Seattle-based architect has been called both raw and refined--disparate characteristics that produce extraordinarily inventive designs inspired by both the industrial structures ubiquitous to his upbringing in the Pacific Northwest and the vibrant craft cultures that are fostered there." --

The modern architecture of Cadaqués 1955-71 / Alegre, Nacho

The modern architecture of Cadaqués 1955-71

Alegre, Nacho

Editeur: Apartamento, 2020
Cote de rangement: 72.031.2 ALE Espagne

Résumé:
Inspired by the early style of Corbusier and ideas on Mediterranean architecture espoused by the likes of Bernard Rudofsky and Josep Lluís Sert, a younger generation of architects found the perfect conditions to explore the future of the Mediterranean house in Cadaqués'a small fishing village on the Spanish Costa Brava that was also home, or the summer meeting ground, for some of the past century's greatest artistic figures, including Dalí, Picasso, Miró, and Duchamp. In this new book, photos from the period show the distinctive style and environment of Cadaqués and 22 homes designed by Federico Correa, Alfonso Milà, José Antonio Coderch, Francesc Joan Barba Corsini, Peter Harnden, Lanfranco Bombelli, Oscar Tusquets, and Lluís Clotet. Edited by Nacho Alegre, it features an introduction by Oscar Tusquets and also tells of the friendships and influences that existed between this group of architects, and how their architecture came to be.

The re-use atlas : a designer's guide towards a circular economy / Baker-Brown, Duncan

The re-use atlas : a designer's guide towards a circular economy

Baker-Brown, Duncan

Editeur: RIBA, [2017]
Cote de rangement: 614 BAK

Résumé:
"This book is a highly illustrated 'atlas', taking the reader on a journey via four distinct 'steps' (recycling, reuse, reduce, closed loop), from a linear economy towards a system emulating the natural world - a circular economy. Featuring over 20 detailed case studies describing design exemplars from the worlds of textile and fashion design, product design, interior architecture, architecture and urban design, this book's purpose is to show designers how they can successfully navigate and exploit the emerging field of resource management and the circular economy. Each step is supplemented with an in-depth interview with an expert who is successfully tackling one or more of these challenges that face all designers today and includes contributory essays from, among others, Professor Walter Stahel of the Product-Life Institute, and Professor Jonathan Chapman, author of Emotionally Durable Design."--Cover.
