The medal Albert Portevin is awarded by the "Société Française de Métallurgie et Matériaux" (SF2M) to a French or foreign personality who has made an outstanding contribution in the areas in which Albert Portevin distinguished himself, including transformation and tayloring properties of materials.
  
Pascal Jacques is Professor at the Materials and process engineering unit (IMAP). His research activities concern the implementation, phase transformations and microstructure evolution, and the optimization of structural and functional properties of different alloys and compounds. Scopus lists over 130 publications and more than 3200 citations.
 
Pascal Jacques received the 2016 medal during the annual SF2M days at Albi, France.
