For banks and insurance companies, the systematic use of data science will become a strategic growth lever. Profits will materialise through accelerated and more accurate decision processes, as well as an increased clients’ satisfaction thanks to more personalised offers and services. They could also hope to better manage their risks and to gain productivity. The aim of the conference is to promote financial and insurance applications of data science.

Pr. Bruno Van der Linden will take part in a debate jointly organised by the Royal Academy for sciences, humanities and arts of Belgium and the British Academy for the humanities and social sciences. The debate will take place on 8th November 2016 at 6 pm. More info and registration.

Les considérations économiques jouent un rôle important dans la perception des bienfaits et des méfaits de l’immigration. La conférence aborde trois questions au cœur de l’actualité. La première est celle des effets de l’immigration sur l’économie des pays d’accueil, en particulier les effets sur l’emploi des natifs et sur les finances publiques. La seconde se concentre sur les vagues récentes de réfugiés et analyse les trajectoires en termes d’emploi.

The SoFiE Financial Econometrics Schools are annual week-long research-based courses for Ph.D. students and new faculty in financial econometrics.
