My research is on issues of industrial relations and human resource management.
Important changes
currently affect labour and human resources in companies (flexibility,
intensification of work, diversity, mobility, new organisational forms, etc.),
bringing about concerns on how employment relationships are and can be
regulated in Western societies today. The issue of employment relationships
regulation must be examined from the different angles of human resource
management, organisational change and industrial relations. These dimensions
are specific to national institutional contexts, but one has to consider
cross-national influences such as globalisation and the European integration.
My research
activities include the co-ordination of cross-national comparative studies at
European level, a.o. for the European Commission or for other European bodies
such as the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working
Conditions Dublin.
I am currently
particularly interested in the role that institutions of industrial relations
play in current developments in the labour market, both at European and
national levels.
