Development of Intuitive Haptic Interfaces for Blind People

Presentation in PDF

Abstract:

Joanna Roczniak currently studies at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

Her research is focused on creating an intuitive haptic map for blind and visually impaired people. The ultrasounds technology is used to build an application that would enable users to explore a dynamically generated map of the AGH University campus by touch and sound. Using an ultrasound feedback, users will be able to feel the landmarks, control the map, and, with supporting component like audio assistance, get all relevant information about buildings to help them with navigating in the campus.
