Professor Nazenie Garibian is a Senior researcher at the Yerevan State University (Armenia). She is also Professor and Head of the Research Centre at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia and Professor at the Gevorgian Theological Seminary at the Holy See of Etchmiadzin. After a Master Degree in Art History and Theory at the Academy of Fine Arts of Erevan (1988) and a Diplôme d'études approfondies, she got her PhD diploma in Art History at the Historical-Philological Department of the École Pratique des Hautes Etudes at Sorbonne in Paris (2005). Her research interests include History, art and architecture of the Caucasus of the Early Christian and Early Medieval periods in relation with the Byzantine and Iranian cultural environment, with special focus on Jerusalem sacred tradition and iconography as well as the design and decoration of holy place. |
