Albert Couvreur Pharmaceutical Museum

Want to visit a 200-year-old pharmacy? You can at the UCL Woluwe campus. UCL’s Albert Couvreur Pharmaceutical Museum features a wealth of apothecary jars, laboratory utensils, rare books and objects that evoke the 18th-century dispensary. Come and put yourself in the shoes of an apothecary of a bygone age.

Practical information

The museum is open the first Saturday of every month, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, or on request.

Price: €2.50 for adults, free for students and persons under 26.

For groups, guided tours are organised on request weekdays or weekends.

  • Adults: The general tour presents the three main parts of the collection: apothecary jars, old books, instruments. The collection’s history is also presented.
  • Children: The tour consists of learning about pharmaceutical science through fun activities: microscopy, observing pharmaceutical instruments (root-cutter, antique scale, etc.).
  • Price: €25 includes admission and up to two guides (15 children/guide).

Books and instruments can be loaned or made available on request.

The Albert Couvreur Pharmaceutical Museum participates in the annual Brussels Museum Nights.
