CORE is offering a PhD or postdoctoral fellowship, to start between September 1, 2018 and September 1, 2019, in the areas of Monetary Economics and Macroeconomics. The successful candidate will be located at CORE and be part of a team of researchers working in Monetary and Macroeconomics, Mathematical Finance and Behavioral Finance. The principal investigator under the direction of which the candidate will work is Julio Dávila.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop her/his own theoretical, empirical or experimental research focusing on the analysis of monetary policy in a context of negative or very low interest rates. For a PhD applicant, full-time dedication to writing a PhD dissertation on the topic, as well as following doctoral courses and attending seminars is expected. For a Postdoc applicant, the usual requirements of contributing to the CORE Discussion Papers series and to seminars at CORE, and of publishing research in the best international peer-reviewed journals apply.
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their academic achievements and prospects.
Postdoc applicants have to fulfil the "mobility” requirement of not having resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start of the fellowship.
A PhD position is offered initially for from 24 to 36 months, with additional possibilities of funding available as a teaching assistant. A postdoc position is offered for 24 months. There are no teaching duties attached to it.
Additional information
The net monthly allowance for a PhD candidate is around €2000/month. (For a postdoc, it is around €2500/month). Benefits include health insurance. Note that the CORE Secretariat will help you find accommodation.
