Research in psychology and education sciences aims to describe, model, explain, predict or modify individual behaviour of children and adults, in itself, and in social, educational, organizational or institutional contexts. The Faculty collaborates with the Psychological Sciences Research Institute (IPSY).
IPSY/Psychological Sciences Research Institute consists of a research environment involving about 240 members, among whom 44 teaching and research professors, about 130 PhD students and postdocs, and 10 staff members. The research carried out in IPSY covers the following fields: Cognition and Neurosciences, Clinical and Health psychology, Social, Work and Organisational psychology, and Educational and Developmental Psychology. The Institute provides researchers with personalized assistance and facilities in editing, statistics, ethics, and access to participants pool, budget and projects management. Testing and experimental facilities include 9 fully equipped laboratories for individual testing and 4 laboratories for group testing, a psychophysiology Laboratory, an EEG-ERP Laboratory, an Immersive Virtual Environment Laboratory, a Motion & Eye-tracking Laboratory, and a Crossmodal Perception & Plasticity Laboratory. IPSY enjoys an outstanding national and international reputation and has developed fruitful scientific collaborations with leading universities around the world.
Internationally, our researchers are involved in numerous scientific networks beyond borders. This is reflected, among other things, by a very good positioning in international rankings. In the QS World University Rankings, Psychology ranks among the global top 100. At local and national levels, our researchers are also involved in society. Research on educational systems and teaching practices makes UCL an essential reference for educational professionals in Belgium.
Some researchers are involved in the Institute of neurosciences - System and cognition division and the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Socialisation, Education and Training.
