Three members of the WeThaw team (Catherine Hirst, Elisabeth Mauclet and Sophie Opfergelt) are departing for Alaska this Sunday 29th April to sample the permafrost region of Eight Mile Lake in Interior Alaska, just at the limit between the continuous and the discontinuous permafrost, a place particularly sensitive to permafrost degradation upon thawing.
