Application

Since the number of places available is limited, students wishing to participate in the UCL-UiO double degree programme in Linguistics must submit an application.

Applications must be in English and must include the following documents:

  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae + 1 passport-size photo

  • Official transcript of undergraduate grades (required average minimum 14/20)

  • A letter in support of the application

  • Proof of proficiency in English (minimum C1)

 

International students must join an English proficiency test, such as:

  • IELTS (minimum overall band score 7.0)

  • TOEFL (IbT) (total score 100)

  • PTE Academic (minimum overall score 68)

Complete applications must be submitted by no later than 30 May:

Note
If there are still some free places available at the end of the May selection procedure, a second selection procedure may be organized at the start of the new academic year.

Who may apply?

The following may apply for a double degree programme:

  1. Students in their third year of a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures: German, Dutch and English or in Modern Languages and Literatures: General (degree awarded by an institution in the French Community of Belgium).

  2. Students in their third year of a Bachelor’s degree in French and Romance Languages and Literatures at UCL if they have taken English, Dutch or German as a minor subject.

  3. Students in their third year of a Bachelor in de taal- en letterkunde (degree awarded by an institution in the Flemish Community).

  4. International students in their third year of a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages or Linguistics and who come from an EU or non-EU country.

Remark: Can be admitted to the Master programme in Linguistics, students who have already had a relevant training in linguistics (at least 30 credits). For more information, please read the Admission requirements to the Master programme in Linguistics carefully.

Important note: International students must submit their application for the double degree programme at the same time as their application for admission to the Linguistics programme at UCL. Taking into account the admission schedule, international students who are non-EU citizens must submit their application for the double degree programme before 30 April.

 

 

UCL Admission procedure for international students for the Linguistics programme:

Step 0
You have sent your application for the double degree programme to the programme director of the programme in linguistics within the fixed deadlines.

Step 1
You complete the online admission form

before 30 April if you are a citizen of a non-EU country
before 30 August if you are a citizen of a EU country

Useful information for filling in the form:

The admission form is in French and English: choose your preferred language before starting to complete it.
Field of study: Language, Literature and Translation studies
Study programme: LING2MS/LM - Master’s [120] in Linguistics, professional focus in Linguistics and its Applications for a Multilingual Society (Louvain-la-Neuve)

Step 2
You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt with the reference number of your application, as well as the name and address of the application coordinator.

Within one month you must send the required documents to the application coordinator by post.
