The soil-plant system is intrinsically heterogeneous and its spatial variability deeply affects water flow and solute transport. Carbon, water and energy fluxes, plant growth and yield are some important processes, which directly depend on soils. I investigate water and mass fluxes in the critical zone to support hydrological and agronomic studies. For that, I combine geophysical methods and modeling approaches to understand plant/water relations and to investigate impacts of abiotic stresses (water stress, saline stress, nutrient stress) on plant growth and uptake, as well as on soil water flow and solute transport. To achieve this, we are developing a detailed mechanistic model at the plant scale : R-SWMS .
